Vernon A. Twenter, 72, of Pilot Grove, MO, died Monday, October 25, 2021, surrounded by his family after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born July 26,1949, in Boonville, MO, to Anton Theodore Twenter and Emma Roseline Fahrendorf Twenter. On July 9, 1983, he married Sylvia Davis of Pilot Grove.
Vernon was a farmer in Clear Creek all his life. He worked at the Pilot Grove Coop and was a school bus driver for the Pilot Grove School District for twenty years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife of thirty-eight years, Sylvia; daughters, Nicky McQueen (Jeremy) and Andrea Rentschler (Chris); grandchildren, Chelsea McQueen (Jesse Davison), Megan Gardner (Zach), Joshua McQueen, and Hailey Lawrence (Harmony Hulin); brother, Cletus Twenter (Terri); sisters, Rosemary Schuster, Shirley Knapheide (Bob), and Patricia Gerken; as well as his Uncle Alfred Twenter and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Anton and Emma, he was preceded in death by one infant brother, William Joseph Twenter, as well as many uncles and aunts.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am, Saturday, October 30, 2021, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pilot Grove, with Fr. Derek Hooper, officiating.
A Rosary will be held at 5:00 pm, Friday, October 29, 2021, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pilot Grove followed by visitation until 7:30 pm.
Burial will be at a later date.
Pallbearers will be Carl Lee Waller, Jerry Dillner, Jeremy McQueen, Chris Rentschler, Dwight Schuster, and James Knapheide.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Little Cougars Daycare.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Meisenheimer Funeral Home, Pilot Grove.
